Rescue Aboard USS Squalus

Accidents were common in the early age of submarines. If something went wrong, there was little technology available to rescue trapped submariners. Naval officer Charles Momsen designed new equipment to save submariners from a ghastly fate. In May 1939, his invention was put to the test.
